Ensuring Access to Exceptional Care Close to Home
Pat and Joe Abrams have been involved in the Marin community since they moved to Kentfield 36 years ago with their children Matt and Sarah.
Pat is a former teacher and has always been an active volunteer. Pat was a school volunteer, Kentfield School Foundation Board member, and then a Trustee on the Tamalpais Union School Board.
Joe was active in both boys’ and girls’ youth sports through high school.
After college, both of their children moved back to Marin to raise their children. Matt and his daughter, Estelle (age 13), live in Greenbrae. Sarah and her husband Jake also live in Greenbrae with their kids, Claire (11) and Noah and Max (9-year-old twins).
The first significant experience with MarinHealth was when Pat had spinal fusion surgery over a decade ago.
As they learned about the MarinHealth Medical Network, they better understood that MarinHealth was an independent, community hospital, not part of a for-profit or university-affiliated medical system. They realized that the access and quality of care relies on support of the entire community.
As a very grateful patient, Pat immediately joined the MarinHealth Foundation Board and focused on raising money and increasing community awareness. Being able to access high-quality state-of-theart medical care in the community is critically important.
Joe volunteered to Co-Chair the Building Better Health capital campaign which was successful in raising the necessary philanthropic funds to help build the Oak Pavilion which opened in 2020.
Today, Joe serves on the MarinHealth Medical Center Board of Directors, helping to oversee the strategic direction and governance.
Pat and Joe have watched with pride the growth of MarinHealth and have enjoyed contributing in as many ways as possible. As a fully independent hospital and medical network, MarinHealth needs the support of the entire community including philanthropy, volunteerism, and voter support.
Philanthropy is one way to fulfill the mission of delivering the best healthcare to our entire community, including the best doctors, nurses, medical teams, and staff, as well as state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
And all without leaving Marin!
MarinHealth Foundation has always been great to work with for both outright and planned gifts. This includes appreciated stock, assets that may be liquidated as part of a egacy gift, and, of course, outright gifts of cash.
Pat and Joe’s philanthropy includes outright gifts, ongoing support of specific programs and equipment, and a general legacy gift. They take great joy in knowing that whatever they give goes a long way in ensuring the future of MarinHealth. Please join Pat and Joe in leaving a legacy for MarinHealth.
