A Win-Win for MarinHealth and Me
Barbara Otto is deeply appreciative of the cardiovascular care she received at MarinHealth. She made her first gift to support MarinHealth in 2013 and has supported cardiovascular care and other programs each year since.
Most recently, Barbara created a charitable gift annuity, a legacy gift designated toward a 2023 MarinHealth Foundation funding priority: the O-Arm™ 3D Imaging System, equipment that assists in complex spine and neurological surgeries.
“A charitable gift annuity is a win-win for MarinHealth and me,” she said. “Not only can I lend my support, but I also receive tax benefits and a steady income for life.”
Barbara is a new member of MarinHealth Foundation’s Legacy Circle and even shares her time and resources as a volunteer member of the Foundation’s Gift Planning Committee, which is comprised of other Legacy Circle members and meets multiple times each year to discuss and provide feedback on gift planning topics.
“We are fortunate to live in a special community with an extraordinary network of general practitioners and specialists, and a state-of-the-art hospital,” she said. “I’m glad I can help by offering my time and resources.”
Barbara calls herself fortunate to have reached that point in life. Growing up in New York City, she was the first woman in her family to go to college, graduating with top honors. Her career took her to Buenos Aires, London, New York City, and San Francisco. She worked at Citibank, Crocker Bank and then Bank of America, where she was named group executive vice president for Latin America.
A single mother, Barbara loved sharing the world with her son and daughter. Today, she travels to Charleston, South Carolina, and Montreal, Quebec to visit their families.
